Privacy Policy

Waves (Contraction Timer) · Last updated 30 July 2026

The short version: Waves does not collect, transmit, or share any of your data. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no servers. Everything you record stays on your device.

What Waves stores, and where

Waves saves the following on your device only, using your operating system’s app storage:

  • The contractions you time — start time, duration, and the optional intensity value you set.
  • Your settings — due date (if you choose to enter one), auto-stop duration, and whether the breathing guide, intensity tracking and lock screen controls are enabled.

This data never leaves your device. It is not uploaded, backed up to us, or synced between devices. We cannot see it, and we have no way to recover it.

If you delete the app, this data is deleted with it.

What Waves does not do

  • No user accounts, sign-up, or login.
  • No analytics, crash reporting, tracking, or advertising SDKs.
  • No network requests. Waves works fully offline; it does not contact any server we operate.
  • No access to your contacts, photos, location, microphone, camera, or health records.
  • No selling or sharing of data with third parties, because no data is collected.

Notifications

While you are timing a contraction, Waves shows a Live Activity on your lock screen so you can start and stop without unlocking the phone. Granting notification permission is optional, is used only for this, and involves no data leaving your device.

Optional tip jar (in-app purchases)

Waves is free and every feature works without paying. If you choose to leave a tip, the purchase is processed entirely by Apple’s App Store. We never see your payment details. Those purchases are governed by Apple’s own privacy policy, not this one.

Children

Waves is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone, including children.

Medical disclaimer

Waves is a timing and organizing tool, not a medical device. It does not diagnose labor and is not a substitute for advice from your doctor or midwife. Always follow your provider’s guidance, and contact them if anything feels wrong.

Changes

If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be published at this address with a new “last updated” date.
